Dr. Scott Overholser – Immediate Reversal of Numbness after treatment

For most patients, the lingering feeling of numbness after dental procedures is not only annoying, but also frustrating.  Anesthesia, depending on the type and quantity used, typically wears off 1.5-2 hours after injection.  But, in some cases, that “fat lip” feeling can linger for up to 5 hours depending on patients’ individual metabolism rates.  As a service to his patients and to combat this, Dr. Scott Overholser has begun using a recently developed and FDA approved drug called Oraverse.

Oraverse is injected into the original site of anesthesia, but the patient doesn’t feel this.  The medication then quickly reverses the effects of the anesthetic by converting it to a compound easily metabolized by the body.  Dr. Scott Overholser has had great success with this process and patients have been thrilled with the results.  As one patient put it, “For the first time, after leaving the dentist, I’m no longer numb or have a droopy face.  And I don’t bite myself.  The results are wonderful.”
